The Hill Top

Mike took aim, saw the first one crest the hill and loosed a round. The figure stumbled, fell and was destroyed in a violent cloud of smoke and fire as it stepped on a land mine.

Mike cursed, he had wasted a mine and a round, both in limited supply!

He zeroed his sight back, just in time to see the hill top filled with walking figures, followed by more and more, packed shoulder to shoulder. In a few short seconds the hundreds had turned into a thousand, maybe more. Mike looked around at his fellow soldiers, he saw tracers fill the air. He looked back and started firing.
