The General

The General watched his troops from the top of the stationary jeep. He had tried to lead them with valor to show that there would be no finer way to die!

Five days ago he had given the news to the men that they had run out of fuel maintaining their communication lines. It had been tough, seeing the fear in their eyes yet uplifting to see the strong resolve of men who knew what awaited them over the coming days.

He turned around, dropped into the driver’s seat, gunned the engine alive, and took off down the road, away from the camp and away from the inevitable fate of those he left behind.
